So I have been really good lately in letting old clothes go and deciding exactly what new things I need to buy lately but I still have a lot to sort out. As you do!! Especially as the season changes.

I am also a bit of collector and I need to start making more room everywhere, not just in my wardrobe. Spring cleaning mission turned on full!!

So I have bagged lots of old, unwanted and unused clothes up for the charity bins as it is no good keeping these things any longer but I do have a few pieces put aside to up-cycle.

10 Tips To Get Your Wardrobe Ready For Summer

So today I am sharing my; 10 Tips To Get Your Wardrobe Ready For Summer:

Unpack Your Summer Clothes:

Firstly, Unpack Your Summer Clothes.

Firstly, unpack your Summer clothes from storage. Try them on to see if they still fit and if you still want to keep them.

Before adding your summer clothes to your wardrobe, give them a wash to ensure they’re fresh and ready to wear.

Lighten up your colour palette, opting for cheerful hues like pastels, whites, and bold prints that reflect the lively atmosphere of the season.

Pack Away Your Winter Clothes:

Secondly, Pack Away Your Winter Clothes.

Secondly, think about what items you will not be wearing in summer. Before putting away your winter clothing, make sure that they’re absolutely spotless and clean.

This helps in avoiding any ageing or damage while being stored.

Think about packing all your winter jumpers away. And heavy coats. Well, not all you might need one or two warm items.

Keep a few lightweight and light colours favourite ones out just in case the weather turns cold again.

The ones you still love, on a nice day give them a quick wash and iron to freshen them up.

Avoid hanging heavy sweaters or knitwear, as this can cause them to stretch. Instead, fold them carefully and stack them in the storage containers.

According to the fabric they are made of, such as wool, cashmere, or synthetic blends, group your winter clothing into piles.

This will enable you to choose the best method of storage for each item. To avoid any moisture build-up, use breathable containers like cotton bags or plastic storage boxes with air holes.

Put lavender inside the storage containers to keep pests away and maintain the fresh scent of your clothing.

Winter clothing should be kept in a cool, dry location away from dampness and direct sunlight. Storage in a wardrobe or under the bed are both possibilities.

Invest in breathable fabrics such as cotton, linen, and chambray to stay cool and comfortable in the heat.

Add Some Nice and Cheerful Summer Colours:

Thirdly, Add Some Nice and Cheerful Summer Colours.

Thirdly, fold some of your darker colours clothes away to the back of your wardrobe. Then pop all your nice and feel good coloured clothes on a coat hanger where you can see them straight away.

Bright colours make you feel more cheerful. Summer is the perfect time to experiment with bright and bold colours like orange, pink, and yellow.

These colours can instantly lift your mood and add a cheerful vibe to your wardrobe.

Have A Clear Out:

Fourthly, Have A Clear Out.

Fourthly, sort out a bag or two to save for the charity shops. If you haven’t worn some of your winter clothes in a while, consider donating them to a charity or selling them online to make room in your wardrobe.

I am sure all charities will be appreciative of any donations at the minute. By decluttering your wardrobe, donating or storing items that are better suited for colder months, and making room for summer essentials.

If they are things that you do not want to chuck away try selling them online. Are some of your clothes ripped, broken zips, or a button missing? Stains on them?

First up think if you can mend it or paid someone to mend it after lock-down.

Weigh up if it would be worth paying someone to fix it or cheaper to buy a new one. Was it expensive or just a few pounds?

Will you get around to having it mended or mending it yourself? Pop these clothes that can be saved somewhere you will see them, so you can mend them and pop them back into your wardrobe.

Out of sight, out of mind! So put them somewhere you will see them and remember to sort out what you want to do with them.

10 Tips To Get Your Wardrobe Ready For Summer:

Fifth, Try Them On.

Do they still fit you!? Try them on to make sure things still fit. It is no good having a wardrobe full of things that do not fit you is it?

Does it fit nicely, is it too snug, or far too big? Again think about the ones that may be too tight or too big and clear out things that are no longer any good to you.

Pop your favourite bits to the back of your wardrobe or into storage until you decided.

Experiment with versatile layering pieces like lightweight cardigans or denim jackets for cooler evenings.

Take the opportunity to embrace airy silhouettes, such as flowy dresses, shorts, and loose-fitting tops that allow for ample ventilation.

Prioritize comfort without sacrificing style by selecting well-fitted and moisture-wicking activewear for outdoor activities.

Revamp your swimwear collection with on-trend styles that make a statement at the beach or pool.

Have You Worn It Lately?

Sixth, Have You Worn It Lately?

When was the last time you wore it? Years and years ago? A few weeks ago? Have you worn it in the 6-12 months? If not are you going to wear it again?

Decisions, decisions. Ask yourself, will I wear it again? Then decide where it goes. Is it a keeper?

Assess your footwear and incorporate sandals, espadrilles, and breathable sneakers to keep your feet cool and stylish.

Don’t forget to update your accessories with wide-brimmed hats, sunglasses, and lightweight scarves for both fashion and sun protection.

Seventh, Does It Make You Feel Confident?

Does it make you feel confident? Some clothes really do bring out your confidence, some clothes don’t. Is it too tight or too big, too short or too long?

A flattering cut to make you feel good or hangs on you all wrong. Keep the ones that bring out your feel-good vibes. Decide what to do with the others.

10 Tips To Get Your Wardrobe Ready For Summer:

Eighth, Will You Wear It Again Soon?

Will you be wearing it again soon? Maybe over the next few months? Yes- keep. Maybe – store away. No- Charity shop or give away to a friend or family member or try to sell.

Ninth, How Many Different Outfit Does This Go With?

Try to mix and match things in your wardrobe. Think of all the other different ways you could wear that pretty dress, a plain skirt, your favourite trousers, a bright shirt or fancy t-shirt so you can start to wear them more.

Tenth, Is It Still Fashionable?

Last but not least, so is it still stylish? Also, still in fashion or something you could put your own fashion twist to? Still, look sweet? vintage? Retro or just feels old-fashioned.

Would you buy it again now? Yes, keep. No, you decided. Also one I need to avoid so I don’t look like I am trying to be young again, would my daughter wear it!?

Finally, conduct a thorough assessment of your summer wardrobe periodically to ensure it remains functional and aligned with your evolving style preferences.

So what do you think?

These are great tips! I did a closet cleanout when we moved and again when I packed away my winter clothes. It’s amazing how many things you get rid of when you try everything on! Love this jumpsuit on you!

Great tips for keeping clothes organised and streamlined. I still have both Winter and Summer clothes out at the moment and it’s quite a mess! I will pack my thicker jumpers and big coats away this week (that’s tempting fate!). I love your jumpsuit! Thanks for linking up!

Yes I agree. I need to lose a few pound and try again before I let a few of them go once and for all.

I just love these tips and typically follow similar plans myself in a “normal” year. My new problem, I have to hang on to this seasons of spring clothes (unless they do not fit) because I did not get a chance to wear them to work and know if I want to keep them around. Who knew that this would be an issue. I am enjoying wearing cardigans, tees, capris, and leggings daily as I work from home. I want to get new shorts for summer, but I think I will wait until it is safe to do so. Great jumper by the way! I love how you pulled it off with the yellow shoes, too cute.

Thank you Jeanie. I need some new shorts for Summer come to think about it. I might cut some of my old jeans up.

I hear you! My Wed. post is going to be a Wardrobe Inventory. After a couple of years, I get tired of things and still like them, but don’t wear them. I’m going to do an overhaul. Plus, we’ve moved to a different climate and my needs have changed. I love these photos, so crystal clear in front of the helter skelter.
