11 Recipes For World Porridge Day

Happy Tuesday.

As today is World porridge day #WorldPorridgeDayI thought I would share some yummy porridge recipes here with you today!

I am trying to get all focused on getting fit again and my downfall is having sweet things for breakfast. Once I get back into a regular exercise routine, I usually eat more healthier too.

Porridge with syrup, porridge with fruit and nut, porridge with jam, porridge with chocolate spread you name it I eat it! I often make up healthier versions of porridge up when I am back on my fitness mission but also love the unhealthy versions too!

When I have sugar for breakfast I find I have a sugar craving all day long. Then when I have more sugar I eat more and more sugar!!

To avoid eating sugar, I like to fill up on porridge, fruit and nuts so not getting a sugar boost first thing. This way I am also fuller for longer and I am not snacking on other bits and bobs.

One of my favourite healthier porridge breakfasts is this one with an apple in it. A lot healthier than adding sugar on top!!

7 Recipes for World Porridge Day:

1.) Apple & Maple Syrup porridge with Pistachio Nuts:

This is simply your usual porridge made up with milk topped with a grated apple, bit of lemon juice on the grated apple to keep it fresh, maple syrup and pistachio nuts. Yummy!!

    Hi Claire, sugar is my guilty pleasure, it's something I wouldn't dream of giving up, but I do try and control the amount I have. Adding fruits of the forest, honey and cinnamon to my porridge (or yogurt) gives me the sugar kick I need sometimes. You would love it over here, cinnamon is added to everything (not quite, but it's used a lot) and I think the type we use here is much stronger than I remember the cinnamon in the UK being…. I don't think I'd like savoury porridge. Mushrooms on porridge did not look good! … Last week, I made porridge for the first time this winter and I cocked it up big time. It was far too thick and salty, not nice at all. xx
