Crufts Started Yesterday: And The Winner Is…

This post is in conjunction with James Wellbeloved but all thoughts are my own.

Hello friends. Happy Friday. How is your week going so far?

Did you know that yesterday was the 1st day of world-famous dog show, Crufts? Are you watching it?

I used to love watching Crufts when I was younger, dreaming of having a dog that I could show off to the world how clever they were.

As a dog lover I love to see all the different breeds on show and see how well-groomed they all are. Amazing.

Crufts Starts Today: And The Winner Is...

Fast forward a few more years and I soon realised not all dogs are well-trained or well-groomed enough to take part in Crufts.

I have spent a lot of time over the years trying to train Mollie to stay away from cars. That is my goal, however she still pulls like crazy.

Doing that crazy ‘Round Them Up!’

I hate to say it; but Mollie would not make a very good contestant!

Although if there is ever a “herd cars into a pen” category, then maybe just maybe?!

Crufts Started Yesterday: And The Winner Is…

Mollie is a lot like me! Very kind, friendly but sometimes goes off on a tangent. Not ideal in the world’s top dog show!!

She sometimes doesn’t like being told what to do either -just like me.

Mollie would not walk nicely on a lead, she would be rushing around with all the people trying to get a fuss off everyone.

She has a certain way of making other dog owners hand over their dog biscuits by lying on the floor acting all sweet. It works every time.

She would also be trying to get away from certain dog breeds as she is very wary after being attacked by two when she was younger.

She is a dab hand at spotting dogs in the park, taking me on a detour and avoiding any confrontation.

Although I am sure the Hubby taught her that, as he speaks to no one when on a walk with her. That’s a story for another day!!

I can just picture her now, causing a stir with all the other dogs! It would be like a scene from a Carry On film for dogs if Mollie was in town!

Bless her.

Mollie The Border Collie is good at other things though. Like rounding things up. Being a sheepdog, she has the knack to round up anything and everything. Well everything but sheep. We did walk through a field with sheep in once and although Mollie was on her lead, she never looked twice at them!!

So today I have teamed up with James Wellbeloved to create a Crufts category Mollie would win.

Crufts Started Yesterday: And The Winner Is...

A Crufts Category I think Mollie Would Win:

James Wellbeloved asked me: If you could create a Crufts category that your dog would definitely win, what would it be?

Mollie is good at lots of things. As mentioned above, she has a way of making people hand over their dog biscuits without them realising. She tries to round up cars. Yes, a dangerous job but someone has to do it!? Well that’s what she thinks and she is a very, very fast runner for her breed. She is great at catching the ball and frisbee and makes you feel very welcome when you come home from a day out.

I would say the best category to fit Mollie would be:

Best Furry Friend:

My Mollie would definitely win the category for best furry friend! As she is always there for us all, whenever we need her. She is always up for a hug and loves playing with us all.

Here Is Why She Would Win Best Furry Friend:

Mollie

Running Buddies:

Mollie is always up for a run. Day or night. As soon as I get my trainers on she is up and ready waiting at the front door. Who else would want to get ready and out of the door for a run in a matter of seconds?

Walkies

Walking Buddies:

Mollie is always up for a walk too. Come rain or shine she will be waiting at the front door before you even realise you wanted to go for a walk yourself.

Crufts Started Yesterday: And The Winner Is...

Good Listener:

Mollie is a great listener. I can chat all day and she will look at me as though she knows what I am saying. I can tell her anything and she will not judge me or tell anyone else. All she hopes is that somewhere in the conversation the words walkies or food is mentioned.

Crufts Started Yesterday: And The Winner Is...

She Keeps Me Fit:

Who else would give you a free gym workout? Throwing the frisbee everyday sure works your arms and playing with the tennis ball in the afternoon!! She is just like a personal trainer too. As she works you hard, gives you that look if you do not throw it again straightaway as she brings it back and she never wants to stop playing.

Mollie

What do you think? Do you think Mollie would win best furry friend? How I have described her schedule. Post your feedback.

Mollie is certainly an active dog and like me she loves her food. Whilst I know what is good for me to eat I never used to be sure what was best for Mollie. Since we have put her on a more natural diet she has been healthier and shinier than ever. A good grain free dog food is in my opinion a must for the active dog. Do you agree? Also what would your dog win an award for? Share your doggy tales with the readers!!

Crufts Started Yesterday: And The Winner Is...

Did you know James Wellbeloved sponsor both Crufts and Scruffts?

Crufts runs between the 7th-10th March. Will you be watching it?

Oh bless, I don;t have a dog but my Mum does and he would win the best “wall of death” – he gets so excited when we visit, he literally runs around in circles

    • 15 March 2019 / 09:07

Aww bless. Sounds like Mollie. Whenever anyone visits, even if it is a stranger, she goes mad to make a fuss!

I’m certain that if I had a pet, I’d indeed know when it’s time for the dog show. Anyway, you have such a beautiful dog. Your dog must be keeping you so fit indeed with all the playing.

    • 12 March 2019 / 11:23

Thanks for stopping by Louise. Mollie coat is a mess this morning as we walked in the rain 🙂

  17. 11 March 2019 / 11:04

Molly is adorable and most certainly a winner of best Furry friend. I’m not a huge dog lover but I do like watching Crufts sometimes and my friend enters her beagle every year.

Most definitely a winner. What more could you want? The farm dog (a sheep dog too), opposite us, rounds up the fish in the pond given half a chance. She also rounds up sheep when required. Fortunately our hounds have never joined in. They ignore livestock. Just a nose greeting through the fence sometimes. Would not be without a hound. #MMBC

    • 12 March 2019 / 11:16

Thanks Cheryl. Millie rounded me up when I was doing my gardening last year. It was so funny to watch her.

This reminds me of my dog laika. They both look a bit similiar too. Laika would win the category of being a foodie dog like Ratatouille

I will have to hop over and take a look 🙂

  32. 8 March 2019 / 16:02

Loved this post, neither of my dogs would make great crufts competitors either but in my eyes are both winners x

  33. 8 March 2019 / 14:49
