  • Thirdly, Nature Photography.

Walk Around King’s Mill Reservoir. I am so please you have stopped by to join us for this week’s Creative Mondays Link Up. What have you been creating this week? Have you had a good weekend? The weather was amazing on Sunday when I was at work and rained most of Saturday when I was off work, grr!! Typical!

Breath in and enjoy the views. Have you ever visited Walk Around King’s Mill Reservoir? King’s Mill Reservoir, is located in Nottinghamshire, England, and also offers several activities for visitors to enjoy.

We love to visit when we can. For a walk, for a run and even talk Mollie with us sometimes. It is so nice to get out in nature. The swans don’t really like Mollie thought and spit so as soon as they notice her, we move on.

Walk Around King’s Mill Reservoir:

Embarking on a leisurely stroll around King’s Mill Reservoir is an enchanting experience that seamlessly blends nature’s tranquility with historical resonance.

The path meanders through lush greenery, offering a picturesque panorama of the reservoir’s glistening waters that mirror the surrounding woodland.

The gentle rustling of leaves overhead and the occasional ripple on the water create a soothing symphony, inviting visitors to escape the hustle and bustle of daily life.

The reservoir, steeped in history. As you walk along, you may encounter an array of birdlife, from graceful swans gliding across the water to vibrant kingfishers darting between branches.

Benches strategically placed along the path beckon walkers to pause, breathe in the crisp air, and absorb the serenity that permeates this scenic oasis.

King’s Mill Reservoir offers not just a walk, but a rejuvenating journey through time and nature’s embrace.

How beautiful are the ducks and swans. I could spend ages watching them go about their day to day. Sometimes they do funny things. They remind me of children when they fall out over food.

Walk Around King’s Mill Reservoir:

Walk Around King’s Mill Reservoir. I love Saturdays. A day when me and the kids get out and do fun things together. A Parkrun here, a shopping trip there. Some weeks we go on the train and occasionally we go to London.

This weeks plans went out the window. The plan was to get up early, run with the dog, shower, get dressed up and go to Nottingham with my Daughter on a fun shopping trip.

Minnie Mouse Bag

Reality was I woken up at 9 o’clock, as I’ve had a really busy week and slept well all night solid. Also, it was raining and to late to go to Nottingham as we were going to meet my Husband from work at midday.

So we had a chill day and caught up on Love Island what I missed Thursday and Friday night when I was at work. Hope you have had a better start to your weekend?

Walk Around King's Mill Reservoir

Today I am sharing some photos of a fun walk around King’s Mill Reservoir with Mollie the Collie.

I am like a big kid when it come to fashion and I love all things Disney! Love this red Minnie Mouse bag!

Walk Around King’s Mill Reservoir. Mollie on our walk. She was bit scared of the swans. So am I!! As mentioned above, when I have Mollie with me they hiss and get angry so we try to avoid them.

I remember an angry swan chasing all the runner in a race once it was very scary. You can read about that here: Highest Man Made Point In Nottinghamshire: Race Day. We ran a race as part of our running club at Teversal Trail in Sutton-in-Ashfield. The Highest Man Made Point In Nottinghamshire. Highest Man Made Point.

I also remember cry over some swans a few years ago when somebody had taken the swans eggs. You can also read about that here: Social Media Day. Today I am sharing some calming photos from a walk around the park. Social Media Day.

Such a beautiful view from here. And oh so quiet. Here in the distance is King’s Mill Hospital. I had 4 children here but not in this hospital as it wasn’t even built then. I had them in a little hospital at the side of this which they knocked down as soon as this one was up and running. Well not as soon as this was up and running but they stopped using it for a long time.

What an I looking at?? I am just looking at the beauty of nature and dreaming away.

Here Are Some Things You Can Do At King’s Mill Reservoir:

Walk Around King’s Mill Reservoir.

Firstly, Cycling And Walking. There is a network of trails and paths around the reservoir that are ideal for cycling, running, and walking. We love to mix it up a little by walking the route one way then another. Still the same place but it looks different!! You can stroll around the nearby wooded areas, take in the picturesque views of the water, and appreciate the area’s unspoiled charm. We love to walk it but it also makes great trails to run on. We even do time trials here sometimes as it is a flat course for running.

Secondly, Birdwatching. King’s Mill Reservoir is a great place to go birdwatching because it is home to many different bird species. It is noted for rare visitors, including some Egyptian Geese and a Mandarin Duck. Bring your binoculars to see the birds and in their natural habitat. Regulars include Grey Heron, Pochard and Tufted Ducks.

Thirdly, Nature photography. If like me, you love taking photos of nature the reservoir provides excellent opportunity for nature photography due to its beautiful views, and changing seasons. Try to capture amazing images of birds in flight or document the beauty of the reservoir. I love taking photos here.

Back then we were going through a mini heatwave! and I had been burning hot just popping out in the garden. Now I’m freezing cold just nipping out!! Ha! Cherry Dress: Throwback Thursday Nottingham Castle.

I remember many walks around the ‘res’ as a kid and sailing toppers from the sailing club. The hospital wasn’t so big then and the only multi story part was the Dukeries unit. I remember the res being covered with green alge in the 90’s. It’s good to see it quite a bit cleaner.

    • 18 June 2019 / 18:27

Thanks Claire, aww yes we know it as the res. I was born there.
