Claire~Thank you for hosting! This is my 1st time at your Welcome to the Weekend hop. I just grabbed your button for my sidebar…thank you.I got your com on my Great Salt Lake post and replies but unless you go back there…and who has time….I thought I'd tell you…that since you; ve probably not been to the Great Salt Lake…very few ppl who visit Utah even get off hte highway to see it up close…you are "fooled" by the beauty of the photos. It is striking in pics…but in reality, it's pretty horrid. Their is no life there at all, save for brine flies, which look like masses of seaweed along the shore, until you get close; then they swarm around your feet.( ! ) The salinity of the lake is 10 TIMES that of the ocean…(I'm not a beachgoer to begin with due to the sticky salty water…not a prima donna by any means…just do not like the beach. I do however, like freshwater lakes)SO, while it;s true that the photos make that beach look quite inviting, NO ONE goes there except occasional crazy travelers, such as my family and NO ONE goes in the water. It is the opposite of inviting and appealing!LOLNot even seagulls can survive there. If you walk OUT into the lake, it's so shallow, you can walk for an hour or so and still be only up to your hips, you will start to see tiny brine shrimp. They a re the only creatures that can exist in the saltiness. ( IN fact my hubby and kids did go in; this time around I did not)SO….just thought I'd tell you that I kind of did not give the full picture of what the lake is really like in those gorgeous shots…..It's really not a beach that anyone actually wants to sit on!ha I am at our local library and they close at 5PM on Fridays; so I'll run now.Have a lovely weekend.xoxoxox
