Nothing better than a nice and warm breakfast on a cold Winters morning. Especially when you have to get up early to walk the dog. On really cold mornings, I really don’t want to go out in the cold.

Breakfast, my favourite meal of the day. Blackberry and cacao porridge is a delightful and nutritious breakfast option that seamlessly blends the rich flavours of blackberries and the indulgent taste of cacao. Blackberry in porridge, how good!

This wholesome dish combines the hearty goodness of oats with the antioxidant-packed sweetness of blackberries, creating a burst of fruity goodness in every spoonful.

Cacao included too. The addition of cacao not only infuses a deep chocolatey essence but also contributes a dose of natural energy and mood-boosting properties.

The porridge is typically prepared by cooking rolled oats in a mixture of milk or water, and then stirring in cacao powder for that luscious chocolate flavour.

Topped with fresh blackberries or other favorite fruits, this Blackberry and Cacao Porridge is a scrumptious way to kickstart your day, providing a perfect balance of wholesome ingredients and delicious taste.

Blackberry And Cacao Porridge:

For The Porridge:

  • 80g Quaker Oats
  • 600ml milk of your choice
  • a pinch of sea salt
  • 1 teaspoon of raw cacao (more if using regular cocoa)
  • a pinch of cinnamon

The Blackberries:

To Top:

  • fresh blackberries halved
  • 1/4 finely chopped apple (in sticks)
  • 1 tablespoon of almond butter
  • 1 teaspoon chopped almonds

Method:

  1. Firstly, make the blackberry topping; simmer the blackberries with the maple syrup until sticky and thickened, this will take about 10 minutes, longer if you are using frozen blackberries.
  2. Place all the porridge ingredients into a pan and cook for 5-8 minutes until the Quaker Oats come together.
  3. Top the porridge with the blackberries, apple, almond butter and chopped almonds.

    We love porriage in our house! We use cacao and maple syrup and sometimes add fruit but never thought about blackberries, going to have to try this, it look delicious.
