Christmas Eggnog: How To Make Eggnog At Home. Do you fancy making your own in the comfort of your own home? So yummy! I love Eggnog, especially at Christmas. A little patience and careful whisking are necessary to create the ideal batch of homemade eggnog.

A dash of brandy or a hint of nutmeg are added by some fans to improve the flavour profile and give the drink a calm, grown-up twist.

Homemade eggnog, served chilled and topped with a dusting of ground nutmeg, is a cosy treat that captures the essence of the season and is a favourite among family and friends to enjoy throughout the holiday.

  1. Firstly, in a medium saucepan heat the milk with the seeds of the vanilla pod.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk the egg yolks with the sugar until creamy.
  3. Add the boiled milk to the egg mixture and return to a moderate heat, stirring continuously with a wooden spoon.
  4. Heat and stir until the mixture thickens slightly (just enough to coat the back of a spoon).
  5. Remove from the heat and place into a new bowl.
  6. Allow cooling before covering the bowl and refrigerating until the eggnog has cooled.
  7. 2 min prior to serving, mix in the yoghurt and Brandy, and ladle the mixture into glasses.

My family loves eggnog, but we usually buy it at the store. When I was in high school, that was the special treat that I always made for my dad and me. I should make it again!
