I love to take pictures of bees as they do not like to sting you but I am scared of being around wasps that long!! I was just in the zone of taking pictures as he landed!! So off I went to look for another flower to take pictures of.

I was looking at your wasp thinking it looks smaller than the ones I see here in nebraska. Ours are a good 1-1 1/2" long. The hornets are even longer (they are a beautiful cobalt blue) but you definitely don't want to be stung by one of those….! You have such beautiful pictures on your blog. I really enjoyed them!
Wow- what stunning photos. My husband and his pals have 3 hives and love bees- rarely have any problems. However he has been stung badly twice recently by aggressive bandit wasps and had an allergic reaction. Not fun.
