The Major Oak In Sherwood Forest & Fashion Over 40. Hello friends. Happy Saturday. How are you keeping? All good I hope.

What have you been up to lately? Anything fun? We have been out and about a bit. Nice long walks and getting out in the fresh air a bit too.

Apart from the rainy days or days the plumber and friends were restyling our bathroom. (More on that when it is finished).

The Major Oak In Sherwood Forest & Fashion Over 40:

It has been my 2 weeks summer holidays off work but we have not been too far from home. I can not believe we have not even been to the beach this summer or had a holiday.

I am craving a day at the seaside!! Hopefully, thing’s will back to normal for next summer and visiting the beach will be extra special by then.

The Major Oak. On Thursday, the husband, Mollie and I spent the afternoon in Sherwood Forest. I can not remember the last time we visited but it is only a short car journey away from where we live.

The Major Oak is getting so old now and you are not allowed near it. But you can get a good photo or selfie near it!!

History On Our Own Doorstep. The Major Oak Tree above. So sometimes we forget to look at the beauty around us. Where we also live. We have an amazing history on our doorstep and it has been spending lots of time in the great outdoors.

The Major Oak In Sherwood Forest:

About: Sherwood Forest is a royal forest in Nottinghamshire, England. It is famous for its historic association with the legend of Robin Hood. Love the history and always think about Robin Hood hiding in the trees when we visit.

Address: Sherwood Forest Visitor Centre, Edwinstowe. Sherwood Forest is located near the village of Edwinstowe in north Nottinghamshire. Edwinstowe, Mansfield NG21 9HN. Such a lovely place to visit and there is also a Centre Parcs nearby too.

Car Park Charges: Parking costs £4 for non-members, and is chargeable for anything up to a full day, and is free for RSPB members, except during the Robin Hood Festival, when the £6 event parking fee applies to everyone.

How old is the Major Oak in Sherwood Forest? It is thought to be between 800 and 1,000 years old. The legend has it that the ancient oak not only provided Robin Hood with shelter. It was also the place where he and his Merry Men slept. How cool?
