Have you ever wondered what really happens behind the scenes at a fashion photoshoot?

Today, I’m looking back at a very special day in Manchester when I was invited to take part in a fashion photoshoot with Marisota. It was such an exciting experience, and one that I still remember fondly.

Happy Thursday or should I say Throwback Thursday today! So how are you today? So today I am trying something different, a throwback Thursday post.

Also, a throwback post full of nostalgic pictures. A fun post of a day I loved. Being an over 40 model for the day. So I am sharing it again because it was such a fun day.

These photos from the past bring back so many fond memories. Such a great day. I was up really early and travelled to Manchester on my own. 

Travelling on my own to a big city is something I have never done before as I did not think I was brave enough. It just goes to show you that you can do anything if you want too.

So from getting up extra early and travelling by train to having my hair and makeup done, choosing outfits and stepping in front of the camera, it was a day full of new experiences.

I thought it would be fun to revisit the day and share more than just the finished photographs. So, come behind the scenes with me and see what happened before, during and after the photoshoot.

There were gorgeous outfits, a fabulous red dress, red lipstick, statement shoes and even some black PVC trousers!

Most importantly, it was a reminder that trying something new can be exciting at any age. At the time, I was an over-40 woman enjoying the chance to experience life as a model for a day.

Let’s take a look back at how it all unfolded.

Before the cameras started clicking, there was time for hair, makeup and choosing the outfits. It was lovely to be pampered and see the different looks coming together. Here’s a little glimpse of the preparation that went into the finished photographs.

Would I do it again!? Yes!!! Because it was so much fun.

I have never shared these photos here before. Mostly images from a photoshoot with Marisota at Christmas 2015. I also had an amazing time in Manchester at the JD Williams head office. Just living the dream, haha!!

I remember getting up extra early to catch a train to Nottingham and then another one. I remember being especially excited to see what the day would bring.

Then the next thing I was in Manchester. The snow was falling, I sat in a coffee shop looking at the Christmas tree lights glittering.

I was full of excitement of what was to come. Because I had never done anything like this before.

And here’s the finished look! I loved the bright red dress paired with red lipstick. Red is such a cheerful colour, and this was one of my favourite outfits from the shoot. What do you think of the final photographs?

So does the little red dress ever go out of fashion? Just like the little black dress doesn’t? I think not!!

Because you can not go wrong with a bright red dress and red lipstick. So cheerful!! As well as being beautiful and bright.

How fun!? I felt like a model for the day instead of running around after children and getting all messy. It was so much fun.

Another outfit from the day was this fun combination of black PVC trousers, red heels and a little sparkle.

I remember feeling as though I was channeling Sandy from Grease! It was such a fun change from the red dress.

PVC trousers are so much fun and always love some sparkles and faux fur.

Such an amazing day. Don’t you just love red shoes and red lipstick?

When my husband saw the pictures he said “Your outfit looks like the one Sandy wore in Grease at the end!!”

I quickly Googled Sandy to look at her outfit and it is very alike!! Then I replied back “Tell me about it stud!! Lol.

Now I call this outfit, my Sandy from Grease look!!

Also, what a beautiful day. On my fashion blog (Fashion On A Shoestring) I’m making goals to get fit again after a few weeks of with the Summer holidays.

(I dread to think of how unfit I have become again!!) My goal is to get back into this dress by Christmas. Pop over if you get the chance

Would You Try Modelling Over 40?

Looking back at this photoshoot brings back so many happy memories. From travelling to Manchester on my own to getting dressed up and stepping in front of the camera, it was an experience I was so glad to have tried.

It also reminded me that it’s never too late to step outside your comfort zone, try something different and discover a new side of yourself.
