West End Musical This Summer? How To Decide Which One.
This post is a collaboration with Encore Tickets.
Guess Which West-end Musicals Are On Our Family Summer Wish List?

It is that time of year again where we are fed up of it being dark and cold and we are starting to plan fun things to do this Summer.

One fun thing we have been thinking for a while is a family trip to London with some sightseeing and photo opportunities, topping off with a trip to a West End show.

We have been to London many times with our Children. Usually just taking in the sights and sounds. Visiting one of the many historic landmarks or World famous Museums.
We have never taken the children to a West End show. The last time we watched a show in the West End was in 1993 when we saw Grease The Musical. Starring Debbie Gibson and Craig Mclachlan.
Wow before we had any children. That takes me back!!

We normally arrive in London by train, then walking from St Pancras passing lots of theaters on our way around the Capital.
At any one time there are roughly 38 West End shows in London. Which one then would you pick? Who’s going?
My Husband who is sneaking towards 50!! Myself who is a very youthful mid 40s-ish! Then two teenage children! Wow a mix then to please.

We have our eldest son back home at the moment. Fresh from his Masters Degree. He is now saving for a place of his own. While he is home he is an ideal Dog sitter for when we hit the Capital this Summer. Hint Hint. If he is reading!
So how do you decide which show to take in ? It must be one we all agree on. Or do we just put all the shows in a hat and do a random draw.?

This week I have teamed up with Encore Tickets to share our thoughts as a family on which West-end Musicals we would all like to see.
About Encore Tickets:

Family West-end Musicals Summer Wish List:
Planning a family weekend away in London for the Summer and what shows we would all like to see. Here are a few of our ideas from the children’s picks, the adult’s choices to which one we would all agree on.

My Choice: One musical I have always been curious about seeing is Phantom Of The Opera. Over the years I have loved hearing the songs from this and I think I would really enjoy this musical.

Husband’s Choice: He would like to watch The Book of Mormon musical comedy. This is written by the South Park creators, right up his street. However luckily for me it is suitable for over 17s only. Phew good job the kids are coming.!
Teenage Daughter’s Choice: My Daughter is a big fan of the Roald Dahl book and movie Matilda so she has asked to see that.
Teenage Son’s Choice: He loves anything about school which doesn’t involve work! So School of Rock is his choice. If it is anything like the film, he has said he will love it.

One We Would All Agee On As A Family: So only one trip to London’s theatre district this Summer what can we all agree on? No one has agreed with any of the other family members choice so what else is on? Luckily for us there are always loads of other options. It is London after all!
So we have decided on Wicked!! The Wizard of Oz is a film we watch at least twice a year as a family. It has something for every age range. So a musical set in that magical kingdom, is sure to be a hit with us.
Maybe I will get to see Kinky Boots another time. ( Hint Hint. )
Which West-end Musical is on your Summer wish list? Let me know.

I have seen wicked three times, it’s a great musical, but worth getting clued up on the story before you go. The books are good , but not suitable for children. The musical is. Matilda is brilliant, I’ve taken my school groups to see that twice, this year were going for school of rock. My daughter would love to see Hamilton. But it’s still in very high demand, maybe in a couple of years.

It’s been a few years since my last trip to the UK but now you make me want to go back and catch a show. Somehow I have never gotten around to it even though I lived in Surrey nearly 20 years ago and was only about an hour’s train ride out of London.

Time spent with family is always priceless! It’s nice that you trip around London together. I would love a city tour in that double-decked bus.
