Pink Dress And Jelly Sandals: Then vs. Now

Pink Dress And Jelly Sandals: Then vs. Now. Hello friends, Happy Sunday. So how are you today?

I thought I would share a fun fashion post today, and reshare an outfit I wore 11 years ago.

Some fashion pieces feel like time capsules. For me, a pink dress and jelly sandals are exactly that. They’re playful, nostalgic, and a little bit daring and I’ve been styling them for over a decade.

Then: Back in the early 2000, nothing felt more fun than slipping into a pink dress and glitter jelly sandals.

It was the ultimate girly combo, playful, colourful, and perfect for summer adventures. Don’t you think?

Looking back at how I wore them 11 years ago versus how I style them today shows not just how fashion evolves, but how I’ve evolved too.

11 Years Ago: The Playful, Carefree Phase:

Back then, it was all about fun. I wasn’t worried about proportions, textures, or “quiet luxury.” I just wanted to feel cute and colourful.

A hot-pink skater dress paired with black jellies was the look for fun days out back in the day. Today, swap the skater dress for a flowy pink midi and style it with pink jelly sandals for a modern, grown-up twist.

Then vs. Now

How I Styled Them Then:

A bubblegum pink dress (the brighter, the better). From the charity shop. Black jelly sandals yes, the ones that squeaked if you walked too long in the sun.

A messy ponytail and minimal makeup (lip gloss was the moment).

Accessories? Whatever matched—stacked bangles, chunky sunglasses, maybe even a neon hairband.

It was bold, carefree, and unapologetically playful.

What I Wore:

  • Outfit: Dress: Love Label via charity shop
  • Shoes: Primark

Shop The Look: Pink Dress + Black Jelly Sandals:

Then (Retro Vibes): Channel the 80s with this playful pink skater dress and a pair of classic pair of Black Jelly Sandals for the ultimate throwback combo.

Why Jelly Sandals Are Back In Style And How To Wear Them In 2026.

Now: The Polished Twist:

Fast forward 11 years, and the same combo gets a sophisticated refresh. The pink dress and jelly sandals still radiate fun, but I style them differently.

Now: Fast forward to 2025, and the pink dress + jelly sandal look is having a serious glow-up. Instead of just being nostalgic, today’s versions feel chic, stylish, and wearable for women of all ages.

How I Style Then Now:

A softer shade of pink—think blush, rose, or muted fuchsia for a grown-up feel.

Jelly sandals, but in a sleeker style, matte, comfortable and lighter colour that feels chic rather than childlike.

Layered gold colour jewelry instead of plastic bangles. A more expensive bag for balance. Loose waves in my hair.

It’s proof that nostalgic pieces don’t need to stay in the past—they just need to grow with you.

Shop The Look Now (Modern Twist): Update the look by pairing this chic pastel flower dress with Pink Jelly Sandals for a polished, grown-up version of the trend.

What I Wore:

  • Dress: H&M
  • Sandals: Primark
  • Handbag: TKMaxx
  • Necklace: Ale-HOP

Shop The Look Everyday Casual: Keep it light and easy with a blush pink sundress and Clear Jelly Sandals that work for both beach days and brunch dates.

Then vs. Now Tip: In the past, jelly sandals were all about neon and glitter. Now, you’ll find sleek clear versions, chunky platforms, and even designer collabs.

Why I Still Love This Combo:

There’s something about jelly sandals paired with a pink dress that sparks joy.

It reminds me not to take fashion too seriously, but also shows how far I’ve come in knowing what feels authentic to my personal style.

Fashion doesn’t have to be about reinventing yourself completely, it can also be about revisiting old loves and styling them in ways that reflect who you are now.

To update the look, try a blush slip dress with metallic jelly sandals a stylish pairing for date nights or summer evenings away.

Firstly, Why Jelly Sandals Are Back In Style And How To Wear Them In 2026.

Remember slipping on a pair of jelly sandals as a kid? Bright colours, fun shapes, maybe even a bit of glitter?

Well, they’re back and this time, they’re not just for the playground.

Designers and high-street brands are reimagining jelly sandals with modern twists: chunky platforms, pastel shades, metallic finishes, and even eco-friendly materials.

Firstly, above my silver glitter jelly shoes I picked up way back in 2014. I loved these but they were a big hard on the feet.

The pink pair below, I brought a few weeks ago are like slippers!!

They are so comfortable. I was going to get some black ones too. I wish I did now!!

Secondly, Rain Rain Go Away!! Real Mums Real Style.

Really fed up of the rain now.  I have dug out my jelly shoes from last year to wear. Then when I’m not on a walk with Mollie I wear these. This way I don’t want to ruin my new sandals.

We should be wearing sandals now!? It is Summer!?

These jelly shoes are so much fun to wear. I really wish I was wearing them at a beach though. That was the reason I brought them for in the first place.

Even though we went away a few weeks ago I never got to visit the beach because of the rain!

The best part of revisiting this trend is that it works for both women and kids.

A mini pink dress with colourful jellies is adorable on little ones, while mums can rock a midi version with chic jelly flats for a coordinated “mini-me” moment.

Whether you love the “then” throwback style or the “now” updated version, the pink dress + jelly sandal combo proves one thing: some trends never truly go out of fashion, they just get reinvented.

Jelly shoes are popular here in Greece for going into the see and protect your feet from stones. But you can wear them when it rains ,too to save other pairs from… rain! Great summer dress!
