A Mirror Selfie, Long Brown Hair And Red Lipstick

A Mirror Selfie, Long Brown Hair And Red Lipstick. 12 years ago today, memory shared.

Google reminded me of this photo from exactly 12 years ago. Long brown hair, ornate mirror selfies.

Fast forward to today, and while the hair is shorter (blonde, not brown, with a few more silver strands making an appearance, OK, a lot more).

More adventures, more confidence, more stories, and a lot less worrying about what everyone else thinks.

Hello friends, Happy Monday. So how are you today?

Do you like to look back on photos and think, who, where was that photo taken, what was I wearing, what was I thinking? As, I do. I nearly always get the location right too.

Sadly, I didn’t have a clue where this photo was taken, when Google reminded me today so I had a look back at some old photos.

It was taken on an afternoon out for lunch in Chesterfield.

Somewhere we only have ever visited once, so I forgot where it was. It was a Sunday and we were having a Sunday dinner cooked for us. Yummy!

Looking back on these photos reminds me; It’s Never Too Late to Reinvent Yourself.

It’s Never Too Late to Reinvent Yourself:

One of the biggest surprises about my 50s is how much possibility still exists.

New careers, new passions, new adventures, they don’t have an expiration date.

You’re not running out of time; you’re gaining wisdom.

Spend Less Time Worrying About Aging:

The wrinkles will come. Your hair may change. Your body will evolve.

None of these things diminish your worth.

Confidence becomes far more attractive than chasing youth. Aging is a privilege that not everyone gets to experience.

The Most Important Lesson:

The Most Important Lesson:

If there’s one thing I’d tell my 40-year-old self, it’s this:

You are already enough.

You don’t need to lose ten pounds, earn another title, please everyone, or prove your worth through endless productivity.

The life you’re building is happening right now, not someday.

Be kinder to yourself. Laugh more. Worry less. Trust your instincts. Take the photo. Wear the dress. Book the trip. Say the words. Start the dream.

Your 50-year-old self is cheering you on, and she’s grateful for every brave step you’re about to take.

So when my husband mentioned we were going to Brighton for a few days, I knew the dress had to come along with us.

Wearing it in Brighton felt particularly fitting.

Brighton has always embraced individuality, and its relaxed, creative atmosphere makes it the perfect backdrop for bold choices.

Rather than toning the dress down too much, I leaned into its playful energy while grounding the look with simple, structured pieces.
