How I Styled A Black And White Gingham Dress Over 40.
For a relaxed daytime look, I paired the dress with a lightweight black cardigan and white Converse. Not forgetting my big sunglasses.
This combination felt effortless while still looking polished enough for lunch and shopping in London with my family.
The cardigan added a casual layer and helped balance the feminine feel of the dress.
Styling A Black And White Gingham Dress. We are hoping to go to London again this week, as we love a day out here. But this was my outfit on our last visit.
Styling A Black And White Gingham Dress:
Styling A Black And White Gingham Dress What I Wore:
- Sunglasses: Primark
- Dress: Car boot years ago 50p!! Sustainable or what!!?
- Cardigan: Primark
- Bag: Cath Kidston
- Shoes: Converse c/o JD Sports
When I wanted a more dressy outfit, I swapped the trainers for black Mary Jane shoes and add a nice blazer.
The tailored shape of the blazer instantly steps up the gingham print, creating a sophisticated look that worked perfectly for meeting friends, dinners, or special occasions.
A simple leather handbag completed the outfit without competing with the bold pattern.
Accessories played an important role in keeping the look modern. Rather than adding large statement pieces, I chose delicate jewellery, including small hoop earrings and a simple necklace.
These subtle details enhanced the outfit while allowing the dress to remain the focal point.
One styling tip I always follow is paying attention to proportions.
Since gingham can be visually striking, I prefer streamlined accessories and classic footwear.
This keeps the overall look balanced and flattering.
I also love experimenting with seasonal layers.
In cooler weather, I wear the dress with a long cardigan, tights, and knee-high boots. During warmer months, I keep things simple with sandals and a woven tote bag.
Styling a black and white gingham dress over 40 is all about embracing timeless pieces, choosing quality accessories, and creating outfits that feel authentic.
With a few thoughtful additions, this classic dress can easily transition from casual daytime wear to elegant evening style.
