Make Sure Your Dog Can Move Freely. The jumper shouldn’t restrict walking, sitting, lying down or normal movement.

Check The Fit Around The Neck And Chest. It should be comfortable rather than tight.

Consider Your Dog’s Harness. Make sure you can still safely attach your dog’s harness or lead.

Choose A Comfortable Fabric. Soft, breathable materials are preferable to anything scratchy or restrictive.

Introduce It Gradually. If your dog isn’t accustomed to wearing clothes, let them get used to the jumper for short periods.

• Firstly, Measure Them Properly. Measure your dog’s neck circumference, chest and length from collar to base of tail. You don’t want to get one too big, so it moves around. And not one to tight that makes it uncomfortable or your dog won’t want to wear it.
• Secondly, Size Up If In Doubt. Saying that, f your dog is between sizes, step up for comfort especially if you’re layering over coat or a harness.
• Thirdly, Check Fabric & Comfort. Make sure the jumper has enough give and doesn’t restrict movement or breathing. If it feels nice and soft, that you would wear it, then it is good enough for your dog. Avoid cheep fabric!!
• Fourthly, Check For Harness OR Lead Access. Some jumpers may cover key buckle/harness points; pick one that works with your regular walking gear. Don’t change your regular harness or lead just for a jumper.
• Fifth, Introduce The Christmas Jumper Gradually. If your dog isn’t used to wearing clothes, have a short practice wear before the big day so they get comfortable. You don’t want no accidents, trying to fight it’s way out or cause any panicking.

Do Dogs Need Christmas Jumpers?

Not every dog needs or enjoys wearing a Christmas jumper. Some dogs are perfectly happy without one, while others may enjoy wearing a comfortable jumper in colder weather.

The most important thing is your dog’s comfort. Watch their behaviour and remove the jumper if they seem uncomfortable, restricted or too warm.

I wouldn’t put it on when it’s nice and warm inside, so not to get her to hot.
