I love this time of year, especially when the Christmas markets start popping up, the festive lights are twinkling and everywhere smells of cinnamon, gingerbread and something delicious!

Today I’m sharing an outfit that I think is just perfect for a little festive shopping trip.

Think cosy knitwear, pretty checks, vintage-inspired details and a little bit of Grannycore charm!

Yes, Grannycore is having a moment, and I am absolutely here for it! I might not be a grandma yet, but I love everything about grannycore fashion and think I’ve been wearing it for years.

Hello lovelies! How are we all today? I hope you’re having a lovely weekend?

Check out yesterday’s Instagram post: How To Wear A Gingham Summer Dress In Autumn: Who says summer dresses are strictly for July? When I was styling this outfit in black and white. It gave me the ide of grannycore.

But Firstly, What Is Grannycore Fashion?

Grannycore is all about embracing those lovely nostalgic pieces that remind us of a traditional, vintage-inspired wardrobe.

Think knitted cardigans, pretty embroidery, gingham prints, long skirts, sensible-but-stylish shoes and pieces that look like they could have a lovely little story behind them.

It’s a little bit vintage, a little bit quirky and lots of fun!

Also, when I pick something up from the charity shop, I always wonder who owned this item before me. Is that just me or do you too?

I love how this trend encourages us to mix different textures, patterns and styles. Fashion should be fun, shouldn’t it?

And who says we have to save our favourite pieces for special occasions?

My Grannycore Outfit: Perfect For A Christmas Market:

My Grannycore Outfit: Perfect For A Christmas Market.

For today’s outfit, I’ve gone for a lovely combination of cosy knitwear and a classic checked skirt.

My cream knitted cardigan is the star of the outfit. I love all the little decorative details, especially the quirky embroidered motifs and colourful buttons. It has that lovely handmade, nostalgic feel that makes Grannycore so charming.

It’s the sort of cardigan that makes you smile as soon as you put it on!

I’ve teamed it with a black and white gingham tiered maxi summer dress. I adore gingham, and I think it works beautifully with the cream knitwear.

The flowing shape gives the outfit a lovely feminine feel, while the checks add a little vintage charm.

To finish the look, I’ve added my chunky black Mary Jane shoes. Comfortable, stylish and just a little bit quirky!

I think they bring the whole outfit together perfectly.

Would You Wear A Christmas Cardigan In Autumn? So, what do you think of this outfit?

Why I Love This Christmas Market Outfit.

One of my favourite things about this outfit is how comfortable it feels without compromising on style.

Christmas markets are lovely places to wander around, browse the stalls, look for unusual gifts and enjoy all the festive decorations.

You want an outfit that looks pretty but is also practical enough for a few hours of walking around.

The long skirt gives plenty of movement, the cardigan adds a cosy layer and the chunky shoes give the outfit a lovely modern twist.

I would probably add a warm wool coat, a cosy scarf and some gloves if the weather turns particularly chilly.

A little red lipstick is also a lovely finishing touch for the festive season!

I love finding different ways to wear the clothes already hanging in my wardrobe.

There is something lovely about getting a little more wear out of a favourite summer dress, especially when the British weather can’t quite decide what season it wants to be!

One minute we’re enjoying a little sunshine, and the next we’re reaching for our cosy cardigans. So rather than putting my gingham dress away until next summer, I decided to give it an autumn update.

A Little Vintage Charm For The Festive Season:

A Little Vintage Charm For The Festive Season.

I think Grannycore is such a lovely trend because it reminds us that you don’t need a completely new wardrobe to have fun with fashion.

Sometimes it’s all about looking at pieces you already own and styling them in a different way.

I love mixing older-inspired styles with modern pieces, and this outfit is a perfect example.

So, whether you’re heading off to Nottingham Christmas Market, visiting a local festive fair or simply enjoying a winter walk, why not add a little Grannycore magic to your outfit?
