Mother Of The Groom Wedding Outfit: Over 50 Style. Today I’m sharing something a little bit special because this outfit was for a very special family occasion, my eldest son’s wedding!
Being the mother of the groom is one of those occasions where you want to feel dressed up, comfortable, confident and, of course, like yourself.
And I knew straight away that I wanted to wear bright colour!
I picked these amazing shoes up at Christmas and based my outfit around these. I know, most people would pick the dress first, but I like to be different! Haha!! If I see something that feels right, I just know.

So, what did I wear?
A beautiful flowered maxi dress, with the colours of the groomsmen and the bridesmaids, also side the colours of my shoes fascinator and handbag.
This fabulous red fascinator, a gorgeous red handbag and the cutest red bow shoes.
And yes, there was quite a lot of red!
But I absolutely loved it. Red, after all, is the colour associated with love.

What I Wore To My Son’s Wedding:

There is something about a maxi dress that I just love. They are feminine, floaty and so easy to wear, especially when you want to look elegant without feeling uncomfortable all day.
For my son’s wedding, I chose a pretty pink floral maxi dress with a lovely flowing shape.
I saved it a few months as it matched my shoes beautifully, but two day before the wedding, I saw a neighbour doing her gardening in the same dress as me, so I knew I had to go and find another one.
So on the wedding eve I ran around looking for something else to catch my eye. I walked into Next and there it was, another dresses I loved. The only one in the shop that I wanted to wear for the wedding too.
The style was light and floaty, the flowers made it feel perfect for a wedding, while the longer length gave it that extra special occasion feel.
And because I was going to be wearing it for quite a few hours, from the ceremony through to the celebrations afterwards, comfort was definitely important too! This dress delivered!!
The Red Accessories:

Then came my favourite part… The accessories!
So, I added a red fascinator to my outfit, which instantly made the whole look feel more wedding-ready. I do love a fascinator for a special occasion. I got this one the day too, before from Amazon.
There is something rather lovely about getting dressed up, putting on a hat or fascinator and feeling like you have made a real effort.
Then I added my red handbag. Another thing I picked up the day before. Ha, nothing like leaving everything to the last minute, to build up the excitement! I loved it as soon as I saw it as it matched my red bow shoes.
A little (or a lot in this case) pop of matching colour can make such a difference to an outfit, don’t you think?
And finally, my shoes. Red shoes with bows! The ones I have been waiting to wear for mouths that my outfit got based on.
What is not to love?
They were pretty, feminine and matched my accessories perfectly.
I think matching your shoes and handbag can sometimes make an outfit feel much more pulled together.

Dressing Up In Your 50s, Yes Please.
Not very often you go somewhere special and never really go anywhere this special. One thing getting older has definitely taught me is that you should wear what makes you happy.
There are no rules saying that once you reach 50 you have to stop wearing colour, pretty dresses, statement accessories or anything else you love.
Quite the opposite! I think this is the perfect time to have fun with fashion. For me, this wedding outfit was all about feeling confident and celebrating with my family.
And honestly, what better reason is there to dress up?
This outfit made me feel really happy and I am planning to wear all the pieces separate again very soon.
A Special Day:
A Special Day.
Of course, the outfit was only a tiny part of the day.
The most important thing was seeing my son get married and celebrating such a wonderful milestone with all our family and friends.
It was one of those days that you know you will remember forever. The created a magical fairytale wedding, that no one will ever forget.
And I’m so pleased I chose an outfit that made me feel happy, comfortable and ready for a day full of photographs, dancing, laughter and plenty of happy tears!

I loved how all the little details came together.
The floral dress kept the look soft and feminine, while the red accessories added a lovely splash of colour.
And I think that is one of my favourite things about fashion, sometimes it is the accessories that really make an outfit.

Eldest Sons Wedding Day. It was my eldest son wedding yesterday. Such a beautiful day, with lots of laughter and happy tears. Didn’t take many pictures because I wanted to enjoy the moment and they had some fab photographers to do a good job.

25th Wedding Anniversary.
A little trip down memory lane and a celebration of 25 years of marriage. We took a trip to London, as it is both our favourite place. So much fun. On Saturday we went to London for a few days to celebrate.
We stayed in a cool hotel, which was movie-themed. It had a Chicago-themed bedroom. Wizard of Oz-themed lift and a beautiful Showtime-themed dining room where you could also help yourself to hot drinks at any time of day or night.
We also had a few fun days out in London. So, we visited The Tower Of London, Hampton Court Palace, and a walk around Greenwich with a quick look around Cutty Sark. We also had lots of yummy meals out. The weather was great, which made it perfect.
