Crooked Spire And Signs Of Spring. Hello friends, happy Thursday.
After such a freezing cold Saturday, it felt like a dream to have it warm and sunny on Sunday.
I really needed my sunglasses on as the sun was shining so brightly. My husband had a rare Sunday off work. the children was off school. So a nice family day out was called for.
Crooked Spire And Signs Of Spring:
We had a lovely day out and today I also thought I would share some photos from our day in Chesterfield.
Where is Chesterfield?
Chesterfield is a large market town and unparished area in the Borough of Chesterfield in Derbyshire, England.
What is Chesterfield well known for?
The Crooked Spire. Also, it is Chesterfield’s best known landmark.
So why is Chesterfield spire crooked?
The Spire was ‘twisted’ when unseasoned wood was used during its construction. With 32 tons of lead tiles placed on top and as the timber dried out the weight of the lead twisted the spire.

Crooked Spire And Signs Of Spring:
We had a lovely day out in Chesterfield. Sundays are the perfect day for a nice lazy walk around the shops.
Not to many people around so you can shop at your own pace.
We had a fun time, sight seeing, stopping for photos at the Crooked Spire, shopping and had some lunch out. We even spotted beautiful signs of Spring around the corner.
A sunny and warm day. Fun family time. Cool things to see. Yummy hot chocolate. Sunday lunch made for me makes a nice change. Spotting signs of Spring = A perfect Winters day 🙂

What a pretty setting for pictures and love your chic jacket!!Marta
We've been through Chesterfield but we've never stopped for a look round. I'd like too, it looks interesting. I think somebody got into a muddle with the maths and that's why the spire's wonky. That would totally happen if I was in charge of church spires! 🙂
That spire is unbelievable! I have never seen anything like it! Do you know who the architect was? I'd love to find out more about them!xRather like your coat too and do I spy a sneaky Cath Kidston bag nonchalantly hiding by your side?x
