#GBBO School Style Challenge..

My daughter just decided to tell me last night they had a ‘Great British Bake Off ‘ theme going on at school and she had to bring some cakes into school today!!

Ha, thanks for the long notice!!

The topic they are covering at the minutes is hearts so we made some fun buns in my Dainty Delight cake maker I got to review a  few years ago.

Makes 24 in a Dainty Delight maker or around 18 cupcakes

Ingredients for cakes:

  • 200g Maragarine
  • 200g Caster sugar
  • 200g Self raising flour
  • 4 eggs
  • A few drops of vanilla extracts
  • 2 Tablespoons skimmed milk

Toppings:

  • 150g Icing sugar
  • few tbsp of water
  • 24 love heart sweets

Method Dainty Delight maker:

  1. Cream the butter and sugar together with a hand mixer until light and fluffy.
  2. Add the eggs one at a time until fully incorporated.
  3. Add the flour, vanilla and milk and mix again until combined.
  4. Pre-heat the Dainty Delight maker and add enough mixture to almost fill the moulds.
  5. Spreading it slightly to fill the moulds.
  6. Bake for 4-5 minutes until golden brown.
  7. Remove from the until and allow to cool.
  8. Repeat until all the mixture has been use ( 2 more times on this recipe )
  9. Leave all cakes to cool.
  10. Mix icing sugar and water and drizzy on top of cakes.
  11. Place a Love Heart sweet on top of some icing so it will stay in place once set.

Method for cupcakes in oven:

  1. Make up the cake mixture as above.
  2. Pop around 18 paper cases into paper a muffin tray.
  3. Place into pre heated oven  at 175°C/155°C fan/gas mark 4 for around 15 minutes. until golden colour.
  4. Leave to cool.
  5. Mix icing sugar and water and drizzy on top of cakes.
  6. Place a Love Heart sweet on top of some icing so it will stay in place once set.

So we make just enough for her class and not 1 left over for poor old mum!!

I am so temped to make another batch up, haha..
