Getting Fit After 50

Getting Fit After 50: A New Beginning.

Hello friends, Happy Monday. So how are you today? I have worked my long weekend and now time to chill!! Well, before work again tomorrow.

Since turning 50 I have been on a mission to start and get fit again.

Over the last few years, since covid arrived I was one of the people that turned my back on exercise.

Not intentionally but the next thing you know you haven’t run for well over a year and a half! Most of this time I have wanted to run again but it is just so hard.

Especially when you have gained a few extra pounds.

Getting Fit After 50: A New Beginning:

Life, losses, and a new puppy distracted me from my running and then the next thing, it was hard to get back into. Not run in well over a year.

Getting Fit After 50: A New Beginning. So on Saturday, I did my first run in over a good year and a half. A Parkrun which covers, 5-kilometre.

I just picked a hard course for added fun. So my first run had to be a Parkrun to get me motivated. It didn’t have to be one of the hardest courses around though, did I?

I have a few spinning classes under my belt from over the last few weeks, so how hard can it be?

Yes, it was tough going. Yes, I walked up the hills. And yes, my heartbeat was maximum. So I worked hard and got through it. Now that has been crossed off the list, time to try and get fit again!!

Complete it though, in 42.55 so now I have time to beat.

What Is Parkrun?

Parkrun is held in 20 countries around the world and organises free, weekly, timed 5-kilometer running events held in public parks or open spaces.

It was founded by Paul Sinton-Hewitt in 2004 in Bushy Park, London, with the aim of promoting community engagement, physical activity, and well-being.
