Shh Wordless: A Beer Or Two Anyone? Hello friends, so how are you today? All good I hope. For my wordless Wednesday photo this week it was taking inside, well outside the kitchens in Hampton Court.

I like the odd glass of beer, but imagine how many glasses of beer you could get out of one of these beer barrels? Can you imagine? As honestly, I could not. Not got a clue!

Oh my, look at the size of these beer barrels! So do you wonder how many pints one of these holds, too? Or maybe they are full of water 😉 Or were full of water? Can you imagine the parties after emptying one of these?

So I Googled it to find out more and apparently some were also filled with wine too.

‘All this food was washed down at court with gallons of wine and beer’. Barrels of wine were sent from Europe and kept in cellars next to the kitchens, while beer was stored close to the Great Hall. Water was safe to drink at the palace. Read more here: Henry VIII Kitchens At Hampton Court Palace.
