Every Thursday, on my day off from work, my daughter and I meet up with my mum for a fun shopping trip. We love a walk around town, have some food and a visit the charity shops.

A day out with my husband in London a few months ago, as we were both off work. That meant I missed out on my Thrifty Thursday shopping trip.

- Firstly, Go Nice And Early: We can not wait to go to the charity shops as soon as we hit the town. The best items are often snatched up quickly, so arrive early to get the first pick. If we go late, you can guarantee, someone is hold a bargain you would have liked!!
- Secondly, Have A Rough List Of What You Want Or Need: While part of the fun is the unexpected finds, having a list of desired items can help keep you focused. I wanted a navy polka dot dress once and ended up with 2 as my mum got one but it didn’t fit her!!
- Thirdly, Inspect Items Carefully For Holes Or Stains: Check for any damage or wear, and decide if it’s something you can fix or live with. I have brought thing’s that do fit before because I love it and have an upcycle idea for it!!
- Fourthly, If In Doubt Try Things On: For clothing, always try items on if possible to ensure they fit well and suit your style. If they do not have a changing room, as if you can sway it next week if it does not fit.
- Be Open-Minded And Try Something Different: Sometimes the best finds are the ones you didn’t know you were looking for. I have found many surprise items!!
