Strawberry Kilner Jar Salad. Layered in a charming Kilner jar, this salad starts with a base of crisp greens such as rocket, followed by vibrant layers of sliced strawberries, and creamy feta cheese.

Often, a tangy balsamic vinaigrette is added at the bottom of the jar to keep the ingredients fresh and prevent sogginess.

The Kilner jar not only serves as a practical, airtight container that maintains the salad’s freshness but also showcases the beautiful, colorful layers through its clear glass.

Perfect for a picnic, lunch at the office, or a healthy snack, the Strawberry Kilner Jar Salad is both a feast for the eyes and the taste buds, combining sweet and savoury flavours in every bite.

You Might Also Need:

Firstly, A Mason Jars* Or Glass Jar. These are the most popular choice due to their airtight seal and durability. Kilner Jar are also a great choice.

Secondly, A Cutting Board*. For chopping up all your vegetables, fruits, and other ingredients, that need to be chopped.

Thirdly, A Grater*. For grating cheese, carrots, or other vegetables.

Fourthly, A Salad Spinner*. These are great to wash and dry leafy greens and get the excess water off.

Fifth, A Vegetable Peeler*. For peeling vegetables like carrots, cucumbers.

Sixth, A Sharp Knife*. A good quality knife for chopping ingredients.

Strawberry Kilner Jar Salad:

Serves: 1

Preparation time: 10 minutes

You’ll Need:

  • 2 tbsp balsamic vinegar
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 100g chickpeas rinsed and drained
  • a handful of rocket
  • 250g Strawberries hulled and quartered
  • 100g feta cubed
  • 1 tbsp shredded mint
  • juice of half a lemon
  • salt and freshly ground black pepper

Method:

1.) You’ll need a 500g kilner jar or similar.

2.) First pour the balsamic vinegar and olive oil into the jar, and season with a pinch of salt and a generous grind of black pepper. Shake the jar to mix ingredients.

3.) Then, beginning with the chickpeas layer up the ingredients within the jar, finishing with the feta and mint. It is important not to have the salad leaves next to the dressing as the vinegar will cause the leaves to wilt. Squeeze the lemon over the top of the salad, and seal the jar.

4.) When ready to eat, shake the jar to coat the salad in the dressing and then enjoy straight from the jar. Store upright.
